Create a Home Business and Make Money WITHOUT a Product

The key to making money online is tapping into a niche of people that are searching for what you already know. I bet you've got a passion for something in your life that you spend a lot of time doing. Whether it's gardening, working on cars, going to movies, traveling or even reading. Anything that you can think of, you can make money on by creating a website that is purely informational.

The fact is that there are thousands of people just like you the share similar interests. No matter how small the niche market is, there are people searching for information that you've already got in your head. In fact, the more targeted and finite the niche market is, the more successful you'll be because chances are, the competition is much slimmer when really focusing on a specific topic. The challenge now is to make that information accessible to others, and PROFIT from it. The title of this page says how to create a home business WITHOUT a product, well that's not entirely true. What I meant was that you don't physically need to sell a tangible item. But what you are doing is selling somewhat of a service....more specifically, Information.

This money making strategy does not profit so much from the readers of your website, but actually the other websites that are selling a product that want to use YOUR SITE in order to promote their products and services. You're the salesperson in the relationship, and when you provide the people at home a website catered to their interests, you've just created a captive audience. Simply by penning your knowledge of a specific topic onto paper...or in this case E-paper, and making it available online for folks at home to search for, you've just created some valuable real estate on the Internet for advertisers to seek out, and PAY YOU to promote products and services that are consistent with the content on your website.

Google Adsense makes this entirely possible

Adsense

Google has created a free service for owners of websites to place targeted advertising on their sites. You're wondering, how do I get paid from this? Google has a separate side of the operation that has catered to the advertisers with physical goods and services to sell. This part of Google is called Adwords. And this is where the money comes from. The people with goods and services to sell need to promote their products somehow, and so Google has capitalized on this idea and created a marketplace for people like you and me that are creating informational websites to get in touch with people that are trying to sell specific products in every market imaginable.

Here's how it works

Mr./Mrs. Product Seller goes to Google Adwords and bids on specific keywords that are associated with the type of product they're selling. That's right, they bid on targeted search terms that you and I would type into the search tool on Google's homepage. It's like an auction. The more popular a search term, the more it costs the advertiser to win the auction. Popular search terms drive the price up, which is good for folks with informational websites that use Google Adsense to promote the products of the folks on Google Adwords.

After the person bids high enough on Google Adwords for a specific term, they then can configure their advertising options and choose to just have their advertising posted on Google's site OR (and this is where we come in) have their advertising posted on content specific informational websites like yours and mine. And this is how the Adwords and the Adsense are tied together.

You and I can go to Google, free of charge, and sign up in Google Adsense and create an account and configure all sorts of varieties of advertising that is taken from the pool of folks from the Adwords side that have already told Google that they want Google to pair their advertising up with people like you and me that are looking to promote their products. From the advertiser's perspective, it's great cause they haven't had to do a single bit of cold calling. And what's even better for them is that the visitors of your site and my site are already looking for information on the specific topic and so that has already qualified them as a potential customer to be interested in what they're trying to sell. What we do with informational websites is that we pre-qualify the visitors for the advertisers. And for that service, the advertiser will pay good money. Much like the tower add to your left on this page. That's exactly what we're talking about, you've probably seen them before. When you click on an ad over there, I have just sent that advertiser a qualified "lead" to their website. And Google pays me a little bit just for that. It's as easy as that. And you can do it too.

So to make it come full circle, Google is able to charge a specific price for unique search terms, and in turn, they turn around and pay you and I, the owners of informational websites, a commission essentially for being able to use valuable webspace on our websites to promote the products of their Adwords customers. It's a great relationship. Don't worry, the technical side of making that all work is handled by Google....they provide you with the exact snippet of code to paste into your website to make the connection.

The Internet: The Information Super Highway

The law of Supply and Demand is at work in this relationship between advertiser and customer. Everyone has something or knows something that somebody else wants. And it's a matter of connecting and communicating in order to come to an agreement and complete a trade of goods or services. And if you think about it, this works in all sorts of different levels.
