In real estate, buying a home is an investment. Home owners pay down their mortgage and build more and more equity in their home, until one day, they own their home. In general, real estate appreciates in value as time passes. Many things in life depreciate in value, like cars and equipment, but homes, land and property in general appreciate.
Renting a house or an apartment on the other hand is handy in transitionary stages in life, but renting for an extended period of time is wasteful because payments that are made to the landlord are not going toward building any equity in the home or apartment. Your money is solely given away for the privilege of living in a house or apartment, and nothing more. After the rent check is signed and mailed, it’s gone.

It’s time to stop “renting” with your time, because you get nothing in return other than the temporary enjoyment.
